Berthel Houston Kennedy, 93 of Hanover, departed this life on Tuesday, September 25, 2012, at Raleigh General Hospital in Beckley.
Born July 16, 1919 in Logan County, he was the son of the late Emery and Lettie Brooks Kennedy.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Mable Lorane Altizer Kennedy; one son, Charles Houston Kennedy; three sisters and one brother.
Berthel was a loving father, grandfather, great and great-great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He was a retired coal miner and of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed watching wrestling and the news. He loved spending time with his wonderful family and friends and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Those left to love and cherish the memory of Berthel and to mourn his passing include his son, Berthel Thomas (Darlena) Kennedy of Hanover; his two daughters: Sharon K. Keneda of Hanover and Judith Ann Hatfield of High Point NC; his eight grandchildren; his twelve great-grandchildren; his two great-great-grandchildren; his two brothers: Virgil and French Kennedy; and a host of other dear family and friends.
Friends may gather with the family at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel in Gilbert on Saturday, September 29th from 6 pm to 9 pm.
Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Sunday, September 30th at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Larry Morgan and Rev. Patty Morgan officiating.
Burial will follow in the Morgan Cemetery at Garden Gap section of Hanover.
Berthel will be carried to his final resting place by family and friends.
He is gone from our sight but never from our hearts.

Visitation: Saturday, September 29th from 6 pm to 9 pm
Funeral: Sunday, September 30th at 1 pm
Place: Mounts Funeral Home Chapel in Gilbert WV
