Walter Mullins

Walter Mullins, 68, of Panther, departed this life on Friday, December 26, 2014, from the Gold Harvest Unit of Welch Community Hospital.

Born on August 12, 1946, at Panther, he was the son of the late Melvin and Stella Steele Rutherford Mullins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister: Ellie Short; two brothers: Bobby and Earl Mullins; and one grandchild: Christen Justice.

Walter was a disabled coal miner. He was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He was of the Pentecostal Faith and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those left to love and cherish the memory of Walter and to mourn his passing include his son, Walter Travis Mullins of Panther; his four daughters: Melvina (Lindsey) Justice of Guesses Fork, VA; Stella Justice and her companion, Danny Bailey, Kristie (Mark) Bailey, and Lorrie Mullins all of Panther; one sister: Nellie (Edgel) Kennedy of Wytheville, VA; one brother, Ervin Mullins of Iaeger; his six grandchildren; his two great-grandchildren; and a host of other dear family and friends.

Friends may gather with the family at the Little Wonder Church at Beartown on Tuesday, December 30th from 12 pm to 2 pm, where funeral services will commence at 2 pm with Rev. Lewis Kennedy officiating.

His final resting place will be in the McCoy Cemetery at Coon Branch Mountain in Iaeger.

Walter will be carried to his final resting place by family and friends.

He is gone from our sight but never from our hearts.
