Lola Blankenship, 73, of Genoa, formerly of Beech Creek, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, September 17, 2008, from her daughter's residence in Genoa.
Born on July 23, 1935, at Woodman KY, she was the daughter of the late Pleas and Polly (Hardin) Prater.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by: her husband, Isom J. "Bouncer" Blankenship; one son, Earl Junior Blankenship; four brothers: Fred, Oliver, Willie, and Earnest Prater; four sisters: Bertha Stevens, Vergie Justice, Lucillie Hatfield, and Wanda Prater; one great grandson, Danny Thomas Junior Stapleton; and one son-in-law, James Roger Blackburn.
Lola was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was a homemaker and a member of the Free Pentecostal Church of God at Beech Creek. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Those left to love and cherish the memory of Lola are: her three daughters: Brenda (Bo) Doss of Wharncliffe, Gaynell (Chuck) Rowe and Elizabeth Ann Blankenship both of Genoa; her son, Dallas "Brutt" Blankenship of Beech Creek; her two brothers: Woodrow (Sandra) Prater of Catlettsburg KY and LeRoy Prater of Lavalette; her sister, Rebecca (Elmer) Daniels of Beech Creek; her three granddaughters: Elisha Danielle Doss, Trista Denise Stapleton, and Lekeisha Nicole Blackburn Pack; her grandson, James Roger Blackburn Jr.; her seven great grandchildren: Erica Danille and Whitley Brooke Stapleton, Hayley and James Roger "Little Man" Blackburn Jr., Ethan Ryan and Elexius Nicole Paige Pack; and LaShaunda Rowe; and a host of family and friends.
Friends called at the Free Pentecostal Church of God at Beech Creek on Sunday and Monday (September 21st and 22nd) after 6:00 pm. Funeral services were held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, September 23rd at the Free Pentecostal Church of God with the Rev. Lowell Sparks and the Evangelist Gene Clemons officiating.
Burial followed in the Looney Curve Cemetery at Devon.
Pallbearers were: Earnest Pack Jr., Bo Hatfield, Kenny and Robbie Prater, Malcolm "Shorty" Hatfield, and Cody Pack.
Honorary pallbearers were: Bo Doss, Charles "Chuck" Rowe, Lewis Smith, and Elmer Daniels.
