Floyd Lester

Floyd Lester, 91 of Gilbert, departed this life Wednesday, June 10, 2015 from Logan Regional Medical Center.

Born March 17, 1924 at Baisden, he was the son of the late Burgess and Eliza (Lambert) Lester.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brothers: Cecil, Curtis, Arnold, Ermel, Burgoyne and infant, Emory Lester, and Bill Cline; his sisters: Eunice and Bessie Cline, infants Mandy, Josie and Vernie Lester.

Floyd was an avid carpenter, and he loved woodworking. He was an excellent dancer, and he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He worked as a custodian at Gilbert High School for 33 years. He was of the Protestant Faith.

Those left to love and cherish the memory of Floyd and to mourn his passing are his 3 sisters: Gladys Rutledge of Gilbert, Mary Cline and Martha Cline, both of Baisden; his brother: Donald (Julie) Lester of Baisden; his special friends and caregivers: Brock Hatfield and Freddy Lester; four generations of nieces and nephews. The family would also like to give a special thanks to Floyd's Home Health Care Providers: Rhonda Wilson and Pam Harvey. He also leaves behind a host of other relatives and friends.

Friends may gather with the family Friday, June 12, 2015 from 6 to 9 pm at Mounts Funeral Home Chapel, Gilbert, WV. Funeral services will commence Saturday, June 13, 2015 at 1:00 pm, with the Rev. Doug Pendleton officiating. Burial will follow in the Hollywood Cemetery at Gilbert, WV.

Floyd will be carried to his final resting place by pallbearers: Cody Houck, Clinton Lester, Monty Joe Cline, Jeff Lester, Tim Rutledge and Greg Gibson. Honorary pallbearers are: Bill Peak, Brock Hatfield, Freddy Lester, David Houck, Brian Geehan, Billy Hatfield, Rudy Rodriguez, Jim McArthur, Rocky Lawrence and Clayton Cline.

He may be gone from our sight, but never from our hearts.
