Alice Lester, 67 of Sprattsville, went home to be with the Lord and her many loved ones waiting for her in heaven, on Friday, March 2nd, 2012, from her residence.
Born on July 8, 1944 at Baisden, she was the daughter of the late Troy and Vannie Blankenship New.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband, James “Jim” R. Lester; four brothers: Raymond, Joda Pat, Buddy and Amos New and one sister, Gladys Mounts.
Alice was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was such a loving and caring person and was a joy to be around. She was a special lady who made everyone she met feel special. She was a cook and managed Debbie’s Dairy Delight at Gilbert of over 22 years. She was a member of the Verner Community Church. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Those left to love and cherish the memory of Alice and to mourn her passing include her three sons: James Eric (Angela) Lester of Hanover, Mark “Moe” Lester of Weston and Lewis “Bud” Adams of Hanover; her grandchildren: Cole, Ashton and Autumn Lester; her sister, Alma Cline of Baisden; her brother, Douglas New of Coal Mountain; and a host of other dear family and precious friends.
Friends may gather with the family at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel in Gilbert on Monday, March 5th from 6 pm to 9 pm with a special service at 7 pm.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, March 6th at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Diamond Carter and Rev. Rick Endicott officiating.
Burial will follow in the Dye and Browning Cemetery at Verner.
Alice will be carried to her final resting place by family and friends.
Honorary pallbearers are: Guy Trent, Dusty McGuire, Rod Brown, Charles Vance, Buck Hatfield, Joe Hatfield and Freddie Harless.
She is gone from our sight but never from our hearts.

Visitation: Monday, March 5th from 6 pm to 9 pm
Funeral: Tuesday, March 6th at 1:00 pm
Place: Mounts Funeral Home Chapel in Gilbert, WV
