Mary Ruth (Walker) Thomas

Mary Ruth (Walker) Thomas, 79 of Long Branch, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her husband, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, Tuesday, March 5, 2024 from Pikeville Medical Center, Pikeville, KY.

Born June 10, 1944 in Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late James and Ida (Patterson) Walker.

In addition to her parents, Mary is also preceded in death by her 5 sons: Randall Lamar Thomas, Earnest James Thomas, twins, Donald, and Ronald Thomas, one infant son death; 2 sisters: Barbara and Ruby Walker; 4 brothers: Clarence, Clifford, J.D., and Billy Walker; aunt: Mary Elizabeth Taylor.

Mary enjoyed playing bingo, gardening, and canning, she loved family time, spending quality time with her grandbabies, going on vacations, traveling, family reunions, keeping family traditions.  She loved yellow Roses, anything in the earthtone colors.  She attended the Apostolic House of Faith Church, Foundation Fork, Simon, WV.

Those left to love and cherish her memory are her loving husband of 63 years: Randall Ross Thomas; son: Richard (Chris) Thomas: daughters: Jennifer (Ben) Russ, Shirley (Bret) Whitten; grandchildren: Brandy (Chad) Blankenship, Ricky (Paige) Thomas, Eric (Kira) Thomas, Brian Spurlin, Desiree (Chris Roberts) Walls, and Ryan (Miranda) Walls; great grandchildren: Kenzie, Ashton, Dylan, Kaden, Dominique, Brayden, Ciera, Harley, Kimberly, JB, Colson, Trinity, Baby Thomas, Jasmine, Elijah, and Austin; sisters: Ida "Kathy" Walker, and Inez "Faye" Walker; her best friend: Juanita Morgan.  Mary also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and other dear family and friends.

Friends may gather with the family Sunday, March 10, 2024 from 1:00 till 3:00 pm in the chapel of Mounts Funeral Home, Gilbert, WV.  Funeral services will commence there in the chapel at 3:00 pm with Pastor Kenny Simpson officiating.

In honoring her request, Mary will be cremated following services.

Her wonderful smile and gentle heart will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate to have known and loved her.
