Shirley Riffe, 85, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 29th, 2016. Shirley was a homemaker her entire life, an avid gardener and a devoted mother, wife and grandmother to her family. She was the fire and spirit of her family. Proceeding her in death was her husband of 42 years, Miles Harvey Riffe, Jr. and together they shared eight children, Kathy (JD) Duncan of Tennessee, Katherine (Bill) Miller of North Fork of Big Creek, Delegate Phyllis (Harry Keith) White of Gilbert, Ricky (Sherry) Riffe of Hanover, Abby (David) Toler of Hanover, Melissa (Chase) Riffe of McConnell, Kim (Phillip) Bowles of North Carolina and Travis (Pearl) Riffe of Logan. They shared ten grandchildren, Carla Parsons, Amber Miller-Viars, Jamie Lester, Kojak Lester, Stephanie Lester, Tara Toler, Tyler Toler, Brittany Riffe-Miller, Chase Riffe and Zachary Bowles. They shared fourteen great grandchildren, Katie Marcum, Nicholas Marcum, Mika Duty, Hillary Gore, Nicolette Viars, Braxton Miller, Dalton Browning, Noah Toler, Liam Toler, Mason Toler, Taylor Lester, Alexis Lester, Ashley Lester and Kacey Lester. In addition to her children that loved her, she was also adored by her brothers and sisters including, Roy Few, Rondle Cline, Fontaine Cline, Ruth Cline Boynton, Wanda Cline Stokes, Celia Mae Cline Bartles and Rosie Cline Short. Shirley spent the last four years of her life as a resident of Genesis Health Center, where she grew a family there in the nurses, staff and doctors that provided her care. Friends may gather with the family on Monday, October 3, 2016, from 11am -1pm at Mounts Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Services will commence at 1:00 pm at the Chapel with the Rev. Gary Browning Officiating. Burial will follow at Palm Memorial Gardens at Matheny. Pallbearers will be Mitchell Parsons, Dakota Combs, Ricky Riffe, Travis Riffe, Tyler Toler and Nicholas Marcum. Honorary Pallbearers will be Harry Keith White, Bill Miller, JD Duncan, David Toler, Phillip Bowles, William Chopper Kirkendoll of her Genesis family and Mayor Serafino Nolletti.
