Lula Lester, 67 of Hanover, formerly of Baisden, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and her loved ones waiting for her in heaven on Monday, August 10, 2009, from her residence.

Born on March 22, 1942, at Baisden, she was the daughter of the late Tom and Lizzie Lester.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Hilden Lester; her paternal and maternal grandparents; her grandson, Donnie Ray Cline; her two sisters: Magaline Roberts and Ellen Mounts; and her five brothers: Ronald, Bufford, Carl Gene, Garland, and Kay Junior Lester.

Lula was a loving mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was a homemaker and a member of the Full Gospel Church of God, which she helped establish. She loved the Lord and loved singing His praises. She loved spending time with her family and her church family. She never turned anyone away from her door and she always made sure they were fed and taken care of. She was always looking out for the other person and would go without so that someone else would not have to. She gave of her time and herself, she helped with the food pantry, she went to help the survivors of hurricane Katrina, and she made quilt to send oversea to help the less fortunate. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Those left to love and cherish her memory are: her three daughters: Hilda (Paul) Blankenship of Varney, Loretta (Tim) Buchanan of Baisden, and Orangie (Danny) Cline of Baisden; her son, Bobby Lester of Baisden; her three wonderful grandsons: Jimmy Keith West, Rick Hatfield, Jr., and Brandon Lester; her four precious granddaughters: Ashley (Travis) West-Barbour, Valerie (Trampas) Browning, and Brittany and Bobbie Anne Lester; her eight step-grandchildren: Tyler, Dustin, Willie Paul, Travis, Fawn, Amy Blankenship, and Samantha and Sabrina Buchanan; her four great-grandchildren: Hailey Lester, Caylee Barbour, Nevaeh Browning, and Jacob Cline; her two brothers: Calvin and Jurlius Lester; her special friend, Linda Collins; and a host of other dear family and friends.

Friends called at the Full Gospel Church of God at Baisden on Wednesday, August 12th from 6 to 10 pm with a service at 7:00 pm.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, August 13, 2009, at the Full Gospel Church of God with the Rev. Jonas Trent, Rev. John Thompson, and the Rev. Winfred Bradford officiating.

Burial followed in the Oak Log Cemetery at Baisden.

She was carried to her final resting place by: Rick Hatfield, Jr., Jimmy Keith West, Trampas Browning, Nixon Cline, Bill Ellis, and Tim Buchanan.

Honorary pallbearers were: Danny Cline, Walter West, Paul Blankenship, T-Bug Mounts, John Thompson, Keith "Ludy" Blankenship, and John L. Browning.
