Lawson Lester, 77 of Baisden, departed this life on Monday, March 7, 2011, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington following a short illness.
Born on April 25, 1933 at Baisden, he was the son of the late Allie (Clint) Lester Blankenship and the late Roscoe Lester.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one grandson, Toby Bevins; one son-in-law, Travis Walls; one brother, Russell Lester; and two sisters: Orpha Jean May and Cousby MillLizer.
Lawson was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He was a disabled coal miner and of the Church of God Faith. He enjoyed hunting, campaigning, and spending time with his wonderful family and friends. He also enjoyed being a volunteer fireman for the Baisden Volunteer Fire Department. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Those left to love and cherish his memory and to mourn his passing include his loving wife, Laura Bell Hogston Lester of Baisden; his four sons: Charles (Betty) Lester, Bill (April) Lester, Carson (Michelle) Lester, and James (Mary Ann) Lester all of Baisden; his three daughters: Marie (Stevie) Carter and Brenda Wall both of Hanover, and Phyllis (David) Bevins of Baisden; his sixteen grandchildren: Anthony (Shanna), Tonia (Justin), Stevie Jr. (Cindy), Andrea, Kayla, Amanda, Bretney, Crystal, Candra, Cameron, Teyona, Alyssa, Chandler, Jamie, James II, and Candice; his five great-grandchildren: Ciara, Haley, Jasmine, Zachary, and Brianna; his four brothers: Ezra, Roscoe, Abby, and Denny Ray; his nine sisters: Delliah, Charolett Jean, Vicie, Darlene, Lisa Carol, Dora Ann, Judy Ann, Kathy, and Choeteen; and a host of other dear family and friends.
Friends may gather with the family at the Freedom Full Gospel Assembly House of Prayer at Hampden on Friday and Saturday, March 11th and 12th after 6:00 pm with a special service at 7:00 pm nightly.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, March 13th, 2011 at the Full Gospel Church of God at Baisden with the Rev. Jonas Trent officiating.
Burial will follow in the Hallie Hogston Cemetery at Baisden.
He will be carried to his final resting place by: Stevie Carter, Anthony Lester, Justin Sizemore, James Lester, Dale Hamilton, Scotty Sammons, and Grim Ellis.
He is gone for our sight but never from our hearts.

Visitation: Friday and Saturday (March 11th and 12th) after 6 PM
Place: Freedom Full Gospel Assembly House of Prayer at Hampden
Funeral: Sunday, March 13th at 2:00 PM
Place: Full Gospel Church of God at Baisden
