Kenny Lester, 84 of Jacksonville, Florida, formerly of North Spring, WV, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and his loved ones waiting for him in heaven, on Thursday, May 6th, 2010 at St. Luke's Hospital in Jacksonville, FL.
Born on November 13, 1925, at North Spring, he was the son of the late I. K. and Mary Z. Cline Lester.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by: his wife, Ada Lester; his daughter, Vickie Johnson; and his brothers: Clifford, Raymond, Shirley, Curtis, and Hubert Lester.
Kenny was a loving husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He was a retired Gilbert High School teacher and principal, a veteran of the US Navy serving in World War II, and a member of the Hanover Baptist Church. He was an avid WVU sports fan and enjoyed gardening. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Those left to love and cherish his memory and to carry on his legacy include his children: Jenny (Terry) Epling of Virginia, Beverly (Peter) Laney of Florida, Brenda (Jerry) Aldrich of Kentucky, and Earnest (Karen) Conley of Germany; his son-in-law, Clarence Johnson of Man; his grandchildren: Kenny B. Epling and Valerie Tomlin, both of Virginia, Heath Epling of Arizona, Robin Grimmett of North Carolina, Michael Laney of Florida, Stephanie Ford and Tonya Chandler, both of West Virginia, and Shaness Giesa and Robert Conley, both of New Mexico; his great grandchildren; his sister, Pearl Lester of Kentucky; and a host of nieces, nephews, other dear family, and friends.
Friends may gather with the family at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel in Gilbert on Tuesday, May 11th from 12:00 noon to 2:00 pm.
Funeral services will be held on May 11th at 2:00 pm at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Arnold Harless officiating.
Burial will follow in the North Spring Community Church Cemetery at North Spring.
He will be carried to his final resting place by family and friends.
