Jerlene Cook, 70, of Gilbert, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, January 27, 2009, from St. Mary's Medical Center at Huntington.
Born at Paynesville on October 11, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Alderson and Chloe (Collins) Muncy.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two sisters: Anna Mae Christian and Maxine Reed; and one grandson, Clifton Bailey.
Jerlene was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was a homemaker and a member of the Eagle Sanctuary at Man.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Those left to love and cherish the memory of Jerlene are: two sons: Timothy (Tammy) Roberts of Hanover and Phillip (Barbara) Roberts of Cub Creek Road; her five daughters: Patsy (Rick) Shaffer of Mt. Lookout, Karen (Ronald) Holland of Newport News VA, Vickie (Anthony) Trent of Thomasville NC, Gladys (Randall) Stacy of Hanover, and Linda (Gary) Sloan of Gilbert; her seven brothers: Buddy (Kathy) Muncy of Cicero IL, Ray (Marilyn) Muncy of Chicago IL, Ralph (Peggy) Muncy of Olive Branch MS, Douglas (Martha) Muncy of Roderfield, David E. Muncy of Bradshaw, Michael Muncy of Jolo, and Larry Muncy of Gilbert; her five sisters: Mabel (George) Hethcoat of Streamwood IL, Carolyn Swafford of Cookeville TN, Velda (Rex) Pruner of Mooresville NC, Georgia (Martin) West of Roderfield, and Peggy Muncy of Chattanooga TN; her 12 grandchildren; her 12 great grandchildren; her 7 step grandchildren; her 16 step great grandchildren; and a host of other dear family and friends.
Friends called at the Freedom Full Gospel Assembly House of Prayer at Hampden on Thursday, January 29th from 6 to 9 pm.
Funeral services were held at 1:00 pm on Friday, January 30th at the church with the Rev. Carl "Cab" Wolford and the Rev. Anthony Hudgins officiating.
Burial followed in the Christian Kennedy Cemetery at Rock Ridge near Paynesville.
She was carried to her final resting place by: David England, Michael Sloan, Ethan Shaffer, Jeffery Zidek, Bob Blackburn, and David Breeding.
