Jeffrey Keith Ellis, age 60, of South Point, Ohio, formerly of Gilbert, WV passed away Thursday, September 7, 2017 at the University of Kentucky, Lexington, KY. He was born November 29, 1956 to the late Jack and Delilah (Cline) Ellis. He was also preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Alex and Hazel(Smith) Ellis and his maternal grandparents Ott and Allie(Hatfield) Cline. Keith was a 1975 graduate of Gilbert High School, a 1977 graduate of Ohio State School of Cosmetology, a 1985 graduate of Columbus Technical Institute, and a 2001 graduate of Marshall University. He owned and operated Nu-Image Hair Salon of Justice, WV before he entered the medical field as a Medical Laboratory Technologist for 20 years at St. Mary’s Medical Center of Huntington, WV. He then worked at the VA Medical Center in Huntington, WV. At the time of his death, he was employed by HIMG of Huntington, WV. Those left to cherish his memory are his brother, Jonathan “Kim” (Connie) Ellis of Gilbert, WV, nieces Rebekah (Anson) Cline of Hurricane, WV; Candice (Ronnie) Stacy of Gilbert, WV; great nieces Jaclyn Stacy and Kiara Cline; and great nephew Isaac Cline. Keith (also known as Jeff by his dear coworkers and friends) left a lasting impression on anyone that was fortunate to know him. He was a very gracious and loving man that enjoyed giving to others. He extended that love to all. He took much pleasure sitting on the back deck seeing the river while drinking coffee and smoking cigarettes. Most recently he took great pleasure in painting with dear friends. Over the years, he adopted many pets. At times, he would have only dogs, then, he would switch to cats. He adored his cats Stormy, Bella and Cali. He loved spending time with his friends by shopping for those things “he just had to have” whether it be clothes or household items. Then he would take those household items and decorate his house. He had an impeccable taste when it came decorating. Keith will always be remembered for his positive attitude, bright smile, embracing hugs, contagious laugh, his quirky quotes and being a friend to all - CAN YA DIG IT? Friends may gather with the family Monday, September 11, 2017, from 6 to 9 pm at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel in Gilbert, WV. Funeral services will commence at 1:00 pm Tuesday with Bishop Anthony Hudgins officiating. Burial will follow at the Ellis Family Cemetery in Gilbert, WV. Keith will be carried to his final resting place by family and friends. Honorary pallbearers are Debbie Genito, Heather Hensley, Deb Johnson, Tina McClure, Angie McComis, Dee Arnett Thomas, and Kellie Thomas.

Keith and I were lifelong

Keith and I were lifelong friends and even though we didn't have the opportunity to visit in our adult lives, we stayed connected through social media.our last time together was at one of the Gilbert reunions and we talked for hours. I will always cherish that evening together. We enjoyed being in the GHS band and followed one another as drum major and drum majorette from1975-76. As a member of the band, we spent many long evenings practicing our football routines and going on our various band trips. But my favorite memories of Keith were spent with his dear Grandmother Allie on our annual summer hiking picnics with Robin (Cline) Mitchell . One summer we stepped on a beehive and were stung many times. His grandmother Allie actually suffered the most stings and we were very worried about her. Our picnics were one of the highlights of our summers in the hills of West Virginia. I will truly miss my friend that I loved dearly. To Kim and family, I offer my prayers and condolences for I know that he will be surely missed. Fran

Jeff was my next door

Jeff was my next door neighbor, here at the Willowvale Condos, in South Point. He was such a sweet man. I am so sad to hear of his passing. I will miss talking to him. Sending prayers for comfort to all the family. ❤️
