A sweet and loving child of God, Hattie Johnson, 83 of Verner, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and to join her loved ones waiting for her in heaven, on Monday, November 1, 2010, from St. Francis Select Specialty Hospital in Charleston.
Born on February 9, 1927 at Verner she was the daughter of the late Owen and Lizzie Runyon Browning.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by four brothers: Clayburn, Douglas, Emmett, and Gilford Browning; and two sisters: Lois Davis and Marie Wheatley.
Hattie was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was a retired receptionist for Logan General Hospital and a member of God’s Lighthouse Trinity Church at Iaeger. She also attended New Beginning Church at Man. She had a wonderful smile and a heart of gold. She loved spending time with her wonderful family and friends, and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Those left to love and cherish her memory and to carry on her legacy include her two sons: Clarence Johnson, Jr. of Man and Kenny (Phyllis) Johnson of Verner; her daughter JoAnn (Joe) Harless of Hanover; her sister, Mila Blankenship of Rio Grande, Ohio; her two granddaughters: Crystal (Daniel) Smith of Verner and Robin Grimmett of Casar, North Carolina; her three great grandchildren: Tia Grimmett of Rutherfordton, North Carolina, and Ezekiel and Christian Blake Smith of Verner; a special caregiver, Crystal Gaikowski of Man; and a host of other dear family and friends.
Friends may gather with the family at the Verner Community Church at Verner on Friday, November 5th after 6:00 pm.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, November 6th at the Verner Community Church with Rev. Rodney Robinette officiating.
Burial will follow in the Lester and Dye Cemetery at Verner.
She will be carried to her final resting place by her family and friends.
Honorary pallbearers are grandsons, Ezekiel and Christian Smith.
She is gone from our sight but never from our hearts.
