Hassell Hurley

Hassell Hurley, 59 of Mohawk, departed this life on Saturday, October 22, 2011, at his residence.

Born on February 24, 1952, at Baileysville, he was the son of Gertrude Justice Hurley and the late Buford Hurley.

In addition to his father he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Lolita Prater Hurley and one brother, Dale Hurley.

Hassell was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He was a disabled coal miner and he enjoyed spending time with his wonderful family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those left to love and cherish the memory of Hassell and to mourn his passing include his five daughters: Renee Mounts (Kevin Cline), Tabitha Hurley (Harley Riley), JoBeth Hurley (Charlie Kennedy), Tina (Herman) Justice and Mary (Earl) Coleman; his mother, Gertrude Hurley; his six brothers: Tommy, Harrison, Timmy, Jimmy, Mack and Haford Hurley; his sister, Betty Correll; his eleven grandchildren: Megan, Shawn and Justin Mounts, Charles and Nathan Kennedy, Todd and Anthony Steele, Cody and Shane Hurley, and LaToshia and Lacey Coleman; and a host of other dear family and friends.

Friends may gather with the family at the Panther Creek Old Regular Baptist Church at Panther on Thursday, October 27th after 6 pm with a special service at 7 pm.

Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Friday, October 28th at the Panther Old Regular Baptist Church with Elder Dave Gibson and Elder Kermit Lester officiating.

Burial will follow in the Prater Family Cemetery at Vulcan.

Hassell will be carried to his final resting place by his grandsons.

He is gone from our sight but never from our hearts.
