Harry Ellis

Harry Ray Ellis, 85, of Gilbert, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 15, 2016, from Logan Regional Medical Center in Logan, WV. He was a loving husband of 50 years to Marie Williams Ellis.

Born September 16, 1930, at Gilbert, he was a son of the late Lloyd C. and Bertha Gladys Snodgrass Ellis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers: Robert, Donald, Ivan “Buck,” Clayton, and John Davis “Davy” Ellis.

Harry was a graduate of Gilbert High School and a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was a retired coal miner, employed with Amherst Coal. Harry will be deeply missed.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two step-children: Roger (Judy) Hatfield of Wharncliffe and Anita Hatfield of Sherrills Ford, NC.; three grandchildren, whom he adored: John Hatfield, Bridget Adams, and Stacy Hatfield; three great-grandchildren, who brought him great joy: Blake, Grace, and David; two sisters: Billie Hatfield of Gilbert and Sue Helm of Hernando, FL. Harry also leaves behind a host of other dear relatives and friends.

Funeral services will commence at 1:00 pm on Monday, January 18, 2016, at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel in Gilbert with Rev. Gary Browning officiating. Harry will be laid to rest in the Wilson Cemetery at Justice, and family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services Monday at the funeral home.

Harry is gone from our sight but never from our hearts.
