Evelyn Blankenship

Evelyn Blankenship, 67, walked into Heaven from her home at Browning Fork at 8 am on Monday, October 19, 2015, to meet her son, her loved ones, and her loving Savior, who were anxiously awaiting her arrival.

Born March 25, 1948 at Browning Fork, she was the daughter of the late Willis and Maggie Johnson Hatfield.

In addition to her parents, Evelyn was also preceded in death by her youngest son: Brian Keith Blankenship; her sisters: Marie Edna Hatfield and Gladys Hatfield Harris; her brothers: Hulen, Calvery, Jim and George Hatfield; her special nephew: Tyler Hatfield.

Evelyn was a member of the Riverview Freewill Baptist Church. She loved attending church when she was able, but due to her illness, she was a homebound Christian for many years. Her greatest joy, other than her God, was her family, whom she loved dearly, and she never missed a chance to tell them so.

Those left to love and cherish the memory of Evelyn are her loving husband of 51 years, Homer Blankenship of Browning Fork; her sons: Homer (Kristie Hatfield) Blankenship, Jr., of Browning Fork, and Audie Edward (Stephanie Mounts) Blankenship of Hanover; her grandsons: Bradley Dale and Brandon Blankenship, of Browning Fork; her granddaughters: Ashlee, Kayleena, and Melva Brianna Blankenship, all of Hanover, and Brittany (Heath) Hatfield and Allison Heath of Hampden; her great grandchildren: Aybree and Hunter Hatfield of Hampden; her sisters: Minnie Belle Hatfield Cook of Columbus, Ohio, Truby Hatfield (Jackie) Thompson of Browning Fork, Phyllis Hatfield (Jack) Smith of Man. Evelyn is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and other dear relatives and friends who loved her dearly.

Friends may gather with the family Tuesday, October 20, 2015 from 6 to 9 pm at Mounts Funeral Home Chapel, with special service at 7 pm. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at 1:00 pm, at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Homer Blankenship, Jr., and Rev. Michael Browning officiating.

Burial will follow in the Carter Cemetery at Browning Fork.

Evelyn will be carried to her final resting place by pallbearers: John, Adam, Caleb, Jason, Brock, and Jamie Hatfield, Dave Carter, Leslie Hobbs, Danny Hobbs II, Kelly Jack Smith, Brandon and Craig Blankenship, Roger and George Hatfield, Jr. Honorary pallbearers are: Danny Hobbs, Michael and Kevin Hatfield, Jack and Josh Smith, Jackie Thompson and Bradley Blankenship.

Her wonderful smile and gentle heart will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate to have known and loved her.
