Edra Trent

Edra Rose Thompson Trent, 77, of Baisden, left this earth to be with her Lord on Thursday, September 17, 2015, from Logan Regional Medical Center.

Born April 15, 1938, at Baisden, she was a daughter of the late Dave and Lydia Blankenship Thompson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Clarence “Bunchie” Trent, two sisters: Myrtle Thompson and Vernia Glandon; five brothers: Bennie Joe Thompson, Lee Roy Thompson, Danny A Thompson, Ray Thompson, and Clarence “Tootie” Thompson.

Edra was an avid fan of West Virginia University football. She faithfully attended the Rosa Old Regular Baptist Church, she loved her church family very much. Before her retirement and illness, she was employed with many different grocery stores in the Gilbert area, including: IGA Supermarket, Bartram Supermarket, and Clay Brothers Supermarket. She enjoyed making many friends through her work. She loved spending time with her family. One of Edra’s favorite past times was calling her friends and talking to them on the phone. She also loved to cook. She will be deeply missed.

Those left to love and cherish the memories of Edra include her niece, who was like a daughter, Teresa (Chris) Smith of Williamson; one brother: Emerson (Elva) Thompson of Baisden; three family members whom she considered grandchildren: Cari (Chris) Southers, Brianna Blackburn, and Steven Blackburn; one great-nephew, whom she considered a great-grandson: Jaxson Christopher Southers. Edra also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, whom she adored, along with a host of other dear relatives and friends.

Friends may gather with the family on Sunday, September 20, 2015, at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel in Gilbert, from 6-9 pm. Funeral services will commence at 2:00 pm on Monday, September 21, 2015, at the Rosa Old Regular Baptist Church at Baisden, with Elder Hobert Hamilton and her newphew, Bro. Jerry Thompson officiating.

Burial will follow in the Glandon Cemetery at Baisden. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be: Clarence Trent, Jimmy Trent, Jerome Trent, Terry Sammons, Drexel Sammons, Tommy Sammons, and Scotty Sammons.

Her wonderful smile and gentle heart will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate to have known her.
