Donald Sammons 57, of Gilbert, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, July 7, 2008, from Logan Regional Medical Center, Logan.
He was born on June 19, 1951, at Baisden, the beloved son of Kathleen (Wimpee) Sammons and the late Herbert Sammons.
In addition to his father he was preceded in death by a son, Chad Sammons and a brother, Ted Sammons.
Donald was a loving husband, father, son and friend. He was a general laborer and a member of the Peaceful Valley Community Church at North Spring.
Those left to love and cherish the memory of Donald are: his loving wife of 32 years, Marcia (Lilly) Sammons of Gilbert; his two daughters: Melissa (Bobby) Runyon and Stephanie Sammons both of Gilbert; his mother, Kathleen Sammons of Gilbert; his two brothers: Tim (Judy) Sammons and Ronald (Jill) Sammons both of South Carolina; his three sisters: Lois (Bob) Swartz of Ohio, Darlene (Paul) Ratliff of Kentucky, and Betty Swartz and fiancAC. Arthur Hensley of Gilbert; his sister-in-law, Joan Sammons of Ohio; special friends: Vickie Browning, Brenda Runyon, and Alvin and Merry Browning; and a host of family, friends, and a loving church family.
Friends called at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel in Gilbert on Friday, July 11th from 6 to 9 pm. Funeral services were held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, July 12th at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Rickey Endicott and the Rev. Alvin Browning officiating. Burial followed in the Leatherwood Memorial Cemetery at Justice. Pallbearers were: Bobby Runyon, Bryan Lilly, Jared Sammons, Barry Sammons, Arthur Hensley, and Gene Quarles. Honorary pallbearers were: Wesley Browning, Travis Runyon, Jeff Swartz, and Lionel Browning.
