David Zane Perry, 71 of Gilbert, departed this life on Wednesday, September 13, 2017, from Dignity Hospice House in Chapmanville, WV. Born August 10, 1946, in Welch, WV he was the son of the late Opal and Juanita (Canterbury) Perry. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters: Sharon Perry, Infant Perry; brother: Shane Perry. Zane was given the gift of life and now it’s time to give it back. He was a blessed man who led a blessed existence and for having the opportunity just to live in this beautiful world he was grateful. He was an avid adventurist who loved the outdoors and bringing smiles to the faces of all ages. He was a Vietnam Veteran, educator and friend. He attended the Eagle Sanctuary Church. Those left to love and cherish the memory of Zane and to mourn his passing include his loving wife: Gail Perry of Gilbert, 4 daughters: Libby Perry of Gilbert, Nicole Townsend of Scottsville, KY, Crystal Townsend of Parkersburg and Jonnah Browning of Gilbert; 2 sons: Justin Townsend of Conway, SC and Joshua Allen of Gilbert; 8 grandchildren: Katelynn Townsend, Samuel Townsend, Dawson Ball, Dakotah Ball, Eli McNeely, Waylon Kirby, Griffin Kirby and his best buddy Zacary Arrington; 3 brothers: Michael Perry of Verner, Greg Perry of Christian and Lane Perry of Huntington; many nieces, nephews and a host of other dear family and friends. Friends may gather with the family on Sunday, September 17, 2017 from 1-3 pm at Gilbert Middle School Auditorium with funeral services commencing at 3:00 pm with the Rev. Bill Cresong officiating. Military Service will be provided by the Belfry KY Chapter # 141. Burial will follow at the Skyline Cemetery at Justice, WV. Zane will be carried to his final resting place by family and friends. His wonderful smile and gentle heart will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Mounts Funeral Home, Inc.

We are so sorry to hear of Zane's passing. Zane was our classmate from elementary school to graduation at GHS and just a great person and positive role model for everyone. God bless Zane and his family at this time.

I loved Zane. I have great memories of him at Myrtle Beach. My daddy loved him too. He will be greatly missed.
