Christopher Sumdum

Christopher Sumdum, 63 went home to be with the Lord on Monday, October 9, 2017 at Logan Regional Medical Center. Born June 29, 1954 in Juneau Alaska, he was the son of the late Charlie P. Sumdum and Elizabeth Sumdum Murphy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son: Charlie Sumdum; two brothers: Sherman and Ricky Shane Sumdum. Christopher loved working with the people at Greenbranch Freewill Baptist Church in hotdog and dinner sales. He loved the church and the people who attended. He loved meeting and talking to people, he never met a stranger. Being an Alaskan Native American from the Chookaneiei "Eagle-Bear" clan he was proud of his heritage and loved to share his stories and his background with everyone he met. Christopher was a dedicated loving husband to his wife which he cherished until his passing. Those left to cherish Christopher's memory is his loving wife and soulmate of 11 years Sherry Elaine Sumdum of Gilman Bottom, his children Christopher Sumdum Jr., Raymond Sumdum, Austin Sumdum, Sheryl Carteeti all from Anchorage Alaska, Don and "Julie" Gibson of Logan, WV, Heather and "Aaron" Frazier of Greenvalley, WV, Kristy and "Thurman" Goodman of Bruno, WV, Michael and "Leslie" Gibson of Switzer, WV. 19 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, 2 special friends Charles and Patricia Blecher of Gilman Bottom. His Cocker Spaniel Ralphie who was his s best friend. He also leaves behind a host of other dear relatives and friends. A celebration of Christopher's life will take place Monday, October 16, 2017 at 6:00 pm at the Greenbranch Freewill Baptist Church in Man, WV, with the Rev. Alfred Butch Cobb officiating. Respecting the wishes of Chris his remains will be cremated. His wonderful smile and gentle spirit will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate to have known and loved him.
