Boyd Mounts

Boyd Mounts, 86, was called to his heavenly home from his residence on December 3, 2012.

Born August 23, 1926 in Lindsey, WV, Boyd was the son of the late Floyd & Lillie Mounts of McDowell County.

He was preceded in death by his parents and was the last surviving child among his siblings: sisters, Nettie Stacy and Bessie Scites; and five brothers: Floyd Jr., Joe, Howard, Wayne, and Elmer Mounts.

Boyd was also preceded in death by two sons, Michel Boyd, and Terry Mounts.

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Barbara (Hatfield) Mounts, and three daughters: Benita Mounts (companion Billy Hatfield) of Browning Fork; twins Tammy and husband Bradley Fenster of Nicholasville, KY; Tonya and husband Roger Hatfield of Inez, KY.

His grandchildren include Tyler Mounts; Amy Fenster, Adam Brewster (wife Danielle); and one great grandchild: Ayden Brewster.

Boyd was a proud member of the US Army, Infantry, 3rd Division. He was a Korean War (1951-1953) Veteran, and a proud UMWA coal miner, retired. Of the Baptist Faith, Boyd was an active and cherished member of the Browning Fork House of Faith. His interests included his church, his family & grandchildren, as well as two pets, Precious the cat and Choppy the chihuahua.

Friends may gather with the family at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel in Gilbert on Thursday, December 6th from 6 pm to 9 pm with a special service at 7 pm.

Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Friday, December 7th at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Diamond Carter and Rev. Lowell Smith officiating.

Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill.

.Honorary Pallbearers will be his church family.

Pallbearers include: Adam Brewster; Tyler Mounts; Roger Hatfield; Brad Fenster; Ron Hatfield; Calvin Wiley; and Mickey Christian.

Following Boyd's funeral, a military graveside service will be conducted at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Pecks Mill, WV by the Disabled American Veterans Chapter #141 of Belfry, KY.
