Billy Lawson

Billy Lawson, 72 of Wharncliffe, departed this life on August 22, 2017 from his home surrounded by his loving family. Born January 30, 1945 at Wise, VA, he was the son of the late Roseavelt & Roxie Collins Lawson. In addition to his parents Billy was preceded in death a granddaughter: Hayley Renea Ferguson; sister: Joyce Fay Eldridge. Billy loved to cook, garden, listen to music and tinker with electronics. He was of the Baptist Faith. Those left to love and cherish the memory of Billy and to mourn his passing include his loving wife of 51 years: Joan Carol Lawson of Wharncliffe; son: Billy J. (Tina) Lawson of Graysville, TN; daughter: Tammy (Robert) Ferguson of Wharncliffe; 5 grandchildren whom he loved so much: Christopher Lawson, Patrick Lawson, Kayla Nelson, Lindsey Morrison and Sarah Ferguson; 4 great grandchildren: Hayden Grant, Lilliana Lawson, Bryson Lawson and Cruz Morrison; 3 brothers: James Lawson of Dallas, TX, Robert Lawson of Portsmouth, OH, Junior Lawson of Marion, OH; sister: Norma Deanor, Switzer, WV; many nieces and nephews and a host of other dear family and friends. Friends may gather with the family on Saturday, August 26, 2017 from 6-9 pm at the Freedom Full Gospel Assembly House of Prayer. Funeral services will commence on Sunday, August 27, 2017 at 1:00 pm with the Rev. Walter Grimmett and Rev. Carl Wolford officiating. Burial will follow in the Ellis - May Cemetery at Baisden. Billy will be carried to his final resting place by Everett Rice, Stanley Justice, Clark Blackburn, Christopher Lawson, Patrick Lawson and Troy Hatfield Jr. Honorary pallbearers include Gary Jeffrey, Eddie Grimmett, Clarence Poe, Irvin Gibson, David Fox, Roger Dale Hatfield, Gary "Moose" Morrison. "He was The Golden Key that locked our family together."
