Anna Shirley Browning, 77, of Hanover, departed this life on Sunday, July 30, 2017, from Pikeville Medical Center. Born on June 9, 1940 at Leatherwood, she was the daughter of the late Rastus and Evia Walls Lester. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her 3 sisters: Mary “Kat” Hatfield, Inos Ramsey and Loberta Stacy; 3 brothers: Arnold, Junior and Hubert Lester; her daughter-in-law: Robin Browning. Shirley enjoyed shopping and sewing, but her greatest love was going to church and spending time with her family and friends. She was a member of the Christian Freewill Baptist Church. She also owned and operated Shirley’s Restaurant at Hanover for 24 years. She loved cooking for the public, and she was able to do so for 38 years. Those left to love and cherish her memory are her beloved husband of 58 years: Ermon “Buck” Browning of Hanover; her daughter: Rhonda Browning (Harry Trent) of Hanover; her 3 sons: Neal (Ladawn) Browning of Coal Mountain, James (Sissy) Browning and Kevin (Heather) Browning, all of Hanover; grandchildren: Justin (LeAnn) Morgan of Hanover, Brittany (Chad) Irick of Morgantown, Kaden Browning, MaKayla Browning, and Blake Goins all of Hanover, Jordan Lawhun of Coal Mountain, Misty Hatfield and Ginger Cline both of Simon, Tabatha Lester of Roderfield, Marcus Browning of Landville and Victor Browning of Albuquerque, New Mexico; great-grandchildren: Hannah and Hunter Lester both of Roderfield, Jonston and Jaxton Blankenship both of Simon; three sisters: Linda Hatfield, Genevia Lester, and Teresia Wallace all of Coal Mountain; a special brother-in-law: Arden Hatfield of Coal Mountain. Shirley also leaves behind a host of other dear relatives and friends. Friends may gather with the family on Saturday, August 5, 2017, from 6-9 pm at the Christian Freewill Baptist Church at Christian. Funeral services will commence on Sunday, August 6, 2017, at 1:00 pm at the church with Pastors Jackie Grimmett, Jackie Jesse, and Larry Lester officiating. Burial will follow in Leatherwood Community Cemetery at Justice. Pallbearers will be: Brian Hatfield, Arden Keith Hatfield, Tommy Hatfield, Allen Hatfield, Michael Hatfield, Stephen Hatfield, and Larry Huffman. Honorary pallbearers will be: Arden Hatfield and Dewey Walls. She is gone from our sight but never from our hearts.
