Alonzo Paul Vanover, 72, of Hanover moved to his heavenly home Tuesday, September 26, 2017 from Logan Regional Medical Center. Born on June 14, 1945 in Hanover, he was the son of the late Opal Vanover Toler, but was raised as the son of the late William and Meldren (Davis) Vanover. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sisters: Hazel and Mamie Lynn Toler; his brothers: Christopher, William, Carl and Oscar Vanover, and William Ray Toler. Alonzo attended the Hanover Missionary Church, where he gave his heart to the Lord, and was baptized, he often said it was the best decision of his life. He had amassed a wealth of friends over his lifetime, sharing kindness and generosity. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, whose greatest joy was spending time with them. He was loved by those who knew him and he will be greatly missed. Those left to mourn his passing include his loving wife of 46 years: Delena (Dunigan) Vanover; his son: Jonathan and his wife Tracy Vanover; his 2 adored grandchildren: Layla Jean and Owen Alonzo, who were the joy of his life, all of Hanover; brothers: Tommy Vanover and Justin “J.C.” Toler, all of Hanover and Douglas and his wife Manuela Toler of Temple, Texas; his sisters: Shelia Dobbins, and Shirley and her husband Charles Lowe all of Hanover. He also leaves behind a host of other dear relatives and friends. Friends may gather with the family Saturday, September 30, 2017 from 6 to 9 pm at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel, where funeral services will commence on Sunday, October 1st, 2017 at 1:00 pm with the Rev. Jackie Lester officiating. Burial will follow in the Ellis Family Cemetery at Hanover. He will be carried to his final resting place by his family and friends. He may be gone from our sight, but never from our hearts.
