Melvin Steele Brooks, Sr., 84 of Wharncliffe, departed this life on Thursday, December 08, 2011, at his residence. 

 

Born on January 27, 1927, at Worth, WV, he was the son of the late Charles James and Lera Mae Hall Brooks.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters:  Lillie Owens and Myrtle Spears and four brothers:  Clinton, Homer, Herbert and Buren Brooks.

Phillip Erskin Berry, 51 of Gilbert, departed this life on Wednesday, December 7, 2011, at Cabell Huntington Hospital, of a throat and lung disease.

Born on December 26, 1959, at Wharncliffe, he was the son of Janice Johnson Berry Bradford and the late Elbert E. Berry.

In addition to his father he was preceded in death by one daughter, Tanessa Marsh; his step-father, Willis Bradford; his paternal grandparents, Joe and Jane Berry and his maternal grandparents, Preston and Cordia Johnson.

Deborah Ruth Justice Neal

Deborah Ruth Justice Neal, 53, of Greenwood, South Carolina, formerly of Man, WV, beloved daughter of R. B. and Helen Miller, went to be with the Lord on December 4, 2011. She passed quietly at the home of her parents surrounded by family.

She was born on September 20, 1958 at Man and was a graduate of Man High School. 

Preceding her in death was her husband, Fred Neal of Greenwood, SC and an infant sister, Karen Miller.

George Darrell "Poncho" Lee, 60 of Hanover, departed this life on Tuesday, November 29th, 2011, at Bowers Hospice House at Beckley.

Born on December 15, 1950, at Isaban, he was the son of the late Troy and India Stafford Lee.

George was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.  He was a retired mechanic and he like to play golf.  He loved spending time with his wonderful family and friends.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Joyce Evelyn Brown Toler, 73 of Justice, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and to join her many loved ones waiting for her in heaven, on Saturday, November 26th, 2011, at Williamson Memorial Hospital.

Born on April 20, 1938 at Accoville, she was the daughter of the late Ola Mathers and Anna Johnston Brown.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Earl “Bee” Toler and one brother, Ambrose Brown.

Edith Grimmett Altizer, 81 of Bruno, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and to join her many loved ones waiting for her in heaven, on Friday, November 25, 2011, from her residence.

Born on October 29, 1930, at Christian, she was the daughter of the late McKinley and Matilda Hatfield Grimmett.

In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Diamond L. Altizer, Sr.; one son, Diamond L. Altizer, Jr.; two brothers:  Travis and Ralph Grimmett; one sister, Amanda Walls; and one son-in-law, Doug Barrett.

Born on February 28, 1951 at Simon, he was the son of the late Azil and Ethel Morgan Kenneda.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Deanna Faye Kenneda.

Born on June 22, 1934 at Hurley Virginia, he was the son of the late Chester A. and Birchie Mounts Taylor.

In addition to  his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Violet Gay Taylor and one son, Michael Taylor.

Born on July 29, 1927, at Baisden, he was the son of the late Elige and Buna Cline. 

In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by two sisters May Moore and Marie Bishop and six brothers, Oscar, Mack, Lenuel (Dick), Lenford, Denver (Pete) and Noxal. And a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one daughter, Debra Trent; one sister, Freda Kerns Gill; and one brother, Ernest Cline.
